Track developmental milestones for children 0–6 years · Monitor height, weight & growth percentiles
Every child develops at their own pace — but knowing the expected windows for sitting, walking, speaking, and social interaction helps parents catch delays early. HealthAYF's milestone tracker follows standard developmental frameworks used by Indian paediatricians, covering children from birth to 6 years of age.
Developmental milestones are a set of skills or behaviours that most children achieve within a certain age range. They cover four main domains: motor skills, language, cognitive development, and social-emotional growth. Tracking them gives parents a structured way to observe progress and discuss concerns with their child's doctor.
Missing a milestone doesn't always indicate a problem — but a pattern of delays across domains is worth discussing with a paediatrician. The HealthAYF tracker flags overdue milestones so you're always informed, not anxious.
Milestones are grouped into four developmental domains:
| Domain | Examples |
|---|---|
| Motor (Gross) | Rolling over, sitting without support, walking, running, climbing stairs |
| Motor (Fine) | Grasping objects, pincer grip, drawing, using spoon and fork |
| Language | Babbling, first words, two-word phrases, sentences, following instructions |
| Cognitive | Object permanence, simple problem solving, pretend play, recognising colours |
| Social & Emotional | Smiling, stranger anxiety, parallel play, sharing, empathy |
Beyond milestones, HealthAYF lets you log your child's height and weight at each doctor visit and tracks growth percentiles over time. Charts follow WHO Child Growth Standards, the same reference used by Indian paediatricians to assess healthy development.
The tracker is organised by developmental age windows, each with its own set of expected milestones:
| Age Window | Key milestones expected |
|---|---|
| 0–3 months | Lifts head, responds to sound, focuses on faces, social smile |
| 3–6 months | Rolls over, reaches for objects, laughs, babbles |
| 6–9 months | Sits with support, transfers objects, stranger anxiety begins |
| 9–12 months | Crawls, pulls to stand, first words (mama/dada), waves bye |
| 12–18 months | Walks independently, 10+ words, points to show interest |
| 18–24 months | Runs, 2-word phrases, pretend play, follows 2-step instructions |
| 2–3 years | Sentences, toilet training begins, parallel play, 200+ words |
| 3–4 years | Tells stories, knows colours/shapes, plays with others, dresses self |
| 4–5 years | Counts to 10, rhymes, draws person, understands rules |
| 5–6 years | Reads simple words, ties shoelaces, cooperative play, logical thinking |
HealthAYF automatically flags milestones that haven't been achieved beyond their expected window. These show as overdue — not to alarm you, but to prompt a conversation with your child's doctor at the next visit. You can mark any milestone as achieved on the date it happened, building a permanent record of your child's developmental journey.
