AI Lab Report Analysis

Your blood test report, explained in plain English — free

Upload any blood test report — HbA1c, Lipid Panel, Thyroid, Vitamin D, CBC, Kidney Function — and get instant Normal / High / Low analysis with Indian reference ranges, plain-English explanations, and trend charts over time. Free, no subscription.

Most Indians receive their blood test reports as a printout or PDF — a page full of numbers, abbreviations, and reference ranges that require medical training to interpret. HealthAYF's AI reads your report for you and explains every value in plain English, using Indian-specific reference ranges where they differ from global standards. Free, instant, and private.

1. What AI analysis does

When you tap "Analyse with AI" on any uploaded report, HealthAYF sends the report to Gemini 2.5 Flash — Google's most accurate medical document AI — and returns a structured breakdown within seconds.

Example analysis output:

TestValueReferenceStatus
HbA1c8.2%4.0–5.6% (target <7% for diabetics)High
Total Cholesterol210 mg/dL<200 mg/dLBorderline High
Vitamin D (25-OH)14 ng/mL30–100 ng/mLLow
Haemoglobin13.8 g/dL13.5–17.5 g/dL (Men)Normal

Each row also includes a one-sentence plain-English note relevant for Indian patients — for example, "Above diabetic target. Discuss medication adjustment with your doctor."

Below the table, a 2–3 sentence summary highlights the values that need attention, followed by a disclaimer reminding you to verify with your doctor.

2. Supported test types

HealthAYF can analyse any standard blood panel or diagnostic report. The most commonly used in India:

PanelKey parameters
HbA1cGlycated haemoglobin — diabetes control marker
Lipid PanelTotal Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglycerides, VLDL
Thyroid Function (TFT)TSH, T3, T4 — thyroid disorders
Vitamin D (25-OH)Deficiency screening — very common in India
Complete Blood Count (CBC)Haemoglobin, WBC, platelets, RBC indices
Kidney Function (KFT/RFT)Creatinine, BUN, eGFR, uric acid
Liver Function (LFT)SGOT, SGPT, Bilirubin, Albumin
Fasting / Post-Prandial GlucoseDiabetes monitoring
Iron StudiesSerum iron, ferritin, TIBC — anaemia workup
B12 & FolateCommon deficiencies in Indian vegetarians

Upload as a JPG photo of a printed report, or as a PDF from a hospital portal — both work. A clear, well-lit photo is sufficient.

3. Indian reference ranges

Reference ranges for some tests differ between Indian and Western populations. HealthAYF's AI uses Indian-specific thresholds:

HbA1c
🌍 Global: Diabetic if ≥6.5%
🇮🇳 Indian: Target <7.0% for Indian diabetics; risk starts at 5.7%
Vitamin D
🌍 Global: Deficient if <20 ng/mL
🇮🇳 Indian: Deficient <20 ng/mL, Insufficient 20–30 ng/mL, Optimal >30 ng/mL
Fasting Glucose
🌍 Global: Diabetic if ≥126 mg/dL
🇮🇳 Indian: Prediabetes risk begins at 100 mg/dL for South Asians
BMI (obesity threshold)
🌍 Global: Obese if BMI ≥30
🇮🇳 Indian: Obese if BMI ≥25 — lower threshold recommended for Indians

These distinctions matter — Indian guidelines from organisations like RSSDI and the API are more conservative for several metabolic markers because South Asians develop insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease at lower thresholds than Western populations.

4. Trend tracking over time

Once you have analysed two or more reports of the same type, HealthAYF automatically tracks how your values change over time.

  • Delta indicator: Each test row shows a ↑↓ arrow comparing the current value to the previous report — "HbA1c: 7.1% ↓ from 8.2% (3 months ago) — Improved"
  • Sparkline charts: A mini trend line next to each parameter shows the direction at a glance — no need to open a separate chart
  • Full trend modal: Click any parameter to open a full chart with all historical readings, a normal range band, and dates on the X-axis
  • Trend tracking works across reports — even if the panel name varies between labs (e.g. "HbA1c" vs "Glycated Haemoglobin")
  • Share the trend chart with your doctor at your next visit — the visual makes it clear whether treatment is working
Most useful for chronic conditions
HbA1c (diabetes), TSH (thyroid), and Lipid Panel (cholesterol) are measured every 3–6 months for patients with chronic conditions. HealthAYF's trend view turns these periodic reports into a continuous health story.

5. How to use

  • Open the View Reports page in HealthAYF and select the family member whose report you want to analyse
  • If the report is not yet uploaded, use the Upload Report button — a phone photo of a printed report works fine
  • Click "Analyse with AI" on any uploaded report — the AI Insights panel expands below the report card within a few seconds
  • The analysis is saved permanently — the next time you open that report, the AI Insights panel loads instantly (no second scan used)
  • You get 10 free AI scans per day — shared across prescription scanning and lab report analysis
  • The disclaimer shown with every analysis: "This analysis is AI-generated. Always verify results with your doctor."

6. Privacy & accuracy

Your medical reports contain some of the most sensitive information about your family. Here is how HealthAYF handles them:

  • Storage: All reports are stored on Microsoft Azure — the same enterprise cloud infrastructure used by hospitals. Encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • AI processing: The report image is sent to Gemini 2.5 Flash for analysis. It is not stored by Google or used for training after processing.
  • Access: Only the account holder (and anyone they explicitly share with) can view reports and analysis results.
  • Accuracy: AI analysis is highly accurate for standard blood panels but is not a substitute for clinical interpretation. Always discuss abnormal values with your doctor — especially if you are managing a chronic condition or are on medication.
Important: This feature is designed to help you understand your results — not to replace your doctor. If a value is marked Critical or High, contact your doctor before making any changes to medications or treatment.
